A note from the Director
My name is Brad Hettinga and I moved from the U.S. to Italy more than 20 years ago - attracted to the seemingly infinite number of historic landmarks, the beautiful cities and countryside and its rich culture. I have a B.S. in Chemistry where I've worked in various fields, including biomedical research, environmental testing and pharmaceuticals but my passion for wine eventually came to the forefront. Being surrounded by an amazing wine culture full of wine enthusiasts and excellent wines of all styles made in picturesque locations by honest, hard-working winemakers made it easy to become passionate about Italian wine and everything about it.
To fuel this passion, I became an advisor for ONAV (Italian National Organization of Wine Tasters) where I participate in official wine tasting commissions, conduct and help organize various events and functions,
and I am also a certified Italian sommelier through the Associazione Italiana Sommelier (AIS).
My Italian wife's family is overflowing with talented cooks and dinners with family and friends are a very common event. They love spending time at the table, eating traditional home-cooked meals combined with the perfect wine for that dish. They truly value the best things in life: the spirit of family, the pleasures of good friends, good food and good conversation - solving the world's problems one dish and one glass at a time!
I am constantly on the lookout for a good deal and combining this with my passion for wine is what GV Selections is all about: getting Italian wines made by smaller "Boutique" winemakers that have a good Quality-Price Ratio onto the tables of those who are looking for a touch of "La Dolce Vita" in their everyday lives.
